    Roo Announces it's 2012 Season

    (As of 27th February 2012 - Changes have been made since early announcement of season)

    BABES IN THE WOOD
    (6th to 14th Jan 2012)

    Babes tells the story of Jack & Jill and their larger than life Nanny Nurse Glucose. Jack & Jill are orphans after the death of their father, and have arrived in Nottingham to live with their Uncle Cedric, who also happens to be the sneaky villainous Sheriff of the town. When the sheriff learns that Jack & Jill were left a fortune in their fathers will, he plots to murder the Babes, therefore inheriting the fortune for himself. The sheriff finds two assistants in the form of Toyle & Trouble. Deep in the forest resides Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men, Maid Marion the sheriffs ward is deeply in love with Robin and grows very fond of the babes. When she learns of her Uncle's evil plans she enlists the help of the merry men and the adventure takes them into dangerous parts of the forest.

    The Full Monty
    (24th Feb to 10th Mar 2012)

    Adapted from the 1997 British film of the same name, six unemployed Buffalo steelworkers, low on both cash and prospects, decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for a touring company of Chippendales.

    Two Weeks With The Queen
    (27th Apr to 12th May 2012)

    Two Weeks with the Queen is a play about Colin, whose brother Luke is diagnosed with cancer. Colin is not accepting the fact that doctors cannot find a cure for Luke. He goes to all lengths to find a cure for Luke, even doing near impossible tasks such as breaking into the Queens palace.

    THE ODD COUPLE
    (27th Jul to 11th Aug 2012)

    A divorced slob invites a group of the boys over for cards. One of the guests, who happens to be very meticulous and tense, has just been separated from his wife. The slob and the neat-freak decide to share one apartment; but patterns of their own disastrous marriages begin to reappear with hilarious results

    CALENDAR GIRLS
    (7th to 22nd Sept 2012)

    When Annie's husband John dies of Leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an Òalternative' calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women's charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie's friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame.

    3 SHORT PLAYS
    (19th to 27th oct 2012)

    (A Trio of short plays written by Will Worthington) "Mining Men" An investigation of male health issues set to the backdrop of the Beaconsfield Mine collapse and ANZAC Day. The Descent into suicide of the protagonist following his layoff at work and breakdown of marriage. "Waiting for Masterchef" A contemporary short adaption of "Waiting for Godot" which looks at the impact of digital technology and media on current generations. "Class Wars" A look at contemporary issues facing staff and students of schools in depressed, lower socio- economic districts. The challenges faced by students dealing with domestic violence and minimal home support and those attempting to educate and support them.

    Les Miserables
    (28th Nov to 8th Dec 2012)

    The story centres on the convict Jean Valjean, a victim of society who has been imprisoned for 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread. A hardened and astute criminal upon his release, he eventually softens and reforms, becoming a successful industrialist and mayor of a northern town. Yet he is stalked obsessively by the detective Javert for an impulsive, regretted former crime, and Jean Valjean eventually sacrifices himself for the sake of his adopted daughter, Cosette, and her husband, Marius. Les Misérables is a vast panorama of Parisian society and its underworld.
