The pivot of the family is the dear old mum, a possessive and domineering woman with a streak of pure evil. She is charming and passive aggressive and determined to keep her family just as she imagines it. Her deceased husband is ever present but only as a voiceless picture on the wall. Joining her at the party are her three grown sons, who mum has battered with her clinging love. Henry, the eldest, is unable to break away from her visions of him but has found a secret love which gives him the comfort and confidence to live with his mother. Terry, the middle child, is married with children but is unable to separate his own desires from those of the woman who bore him. And the youngest son, Tom, hates mum with such passion that he is willing to throw aside everything in a desire to see her brought low.Karen, Terry’s wife and mother of his children, has been battling mum for years and brings a truckload of animosity to the party. She is joined by the newest addition to the family, Karen, the fiancée of Tom who is meeting the folks for the first time.Shirley and Karen bring the family to a breaking point, showing that love and understanding can win over evil...
