By Daniel R. Lillford Wollongong Workshop Theatre Director: ( Ivan J. Sumelj, Producer - Gabi Harding )
"Some people have the eyes of a tortured child, inside they're always crying… their eyes are the windows of rage." A former Playwright-in-Residence with the Melbourne Theatre Company in '94, Daniel R. Lillford throws us on a roller-coaster ride of psychological warfare within the confines of a remote setting, as we are introduced to the daughter of a corrupt union official who has been kidnapped and held hostage by two desperate idealists, vowing to avenge the death of their close companion. An intensively driven piece that takes aim at examining themes of corruption, revenge, trust and loyalty, with an emphasis on the ever-shifting balance of power and control, Dark Heart sharply unveils the extravagance of raw human nature as it begs the question: Who has the darkest heart?
