Set in 1930s America, the audience follows the lives of the Wingfield family: Amanda, the mother, who wants her children to live the lives she has dreamed for them; Tom, the son, who wants to be a poet, but is forced by his father’s absence to support the family by working at a shoe warehouse and Laura, the painfully shy, crippled daughter who retreats from the real world to the safety of her collection of glass animals. Into this mix is added a gentleman caller, Jim O’Connor, who is totally unaware that he has been chosen as a suitor for Laura. In the space of one evening, the entire family will be thrown into turmoil…
